A Follow up to- “Don’t Judge a Book by it’s Cover”

Alhamdulilah.  This weekend was an epic fail for me.  The last couple of days I’ve been on edge, to say the least.  I’ve been tempted to unleash a wild torrent of emotions upon certain individuals.  They shall remain nameless.

Some people can get under your skin if you allow them to.  This is where sabr (patience) is a vital tool in helping you keep your cool.  Never give a person  the power to get you out of your character.  More importantly don’t let Shaitan succeed in his mission.  If you become irate and act irrationally only you will be held accountable for your actions.

Nevertheless, it is common knowledge that humans aren’t infallible.  We all make mistakes, and we all have character flaws, Muslims included.  Yes, that’s right, we Muslims are indeed humans.  I’ve come across plenty of Muslims that behave so treacherously you could not pay me to believe they were upon the Sunnah, even if it was stamped on their foreheads.  I say this to illustrate my point.  You cannot judge an entire group of people

according to the actions of a few.  If the actions of a few bad apples spoke for us all, Islam wouldn’t be the fastest growing religion in the world to date.

So back to the annoyances I was plagued with this past weekend.  I forgive them for their misdeeds.  However I’m having difficulty trying to convince myself that I should take naseeha (advice) from such people.  I’m only responsible for following the Qur’an and Sunnah to the best of my abilities.  I refuse to blind follow any man, especially one who sees absolutely no wrong in himself.  Brothers and sisters , let us remember to check ourselves and our families first, before we deal out advice to others.

Or better yet a religion by its (so-called) adherents.

Ok so here’s my rant for the day.  I am so sick and tired of listening to the played out track,  featuring conservative Muslims trying to prove that Islam isn’t related to terrorism.  At this point in the game we should abandon this mission.  It’s futile.  The reality of the situation is, we live in a world infested with haters.

Similar to termites, haters crawl around trying to demolish established structures by gnawing at their foundations.  They come in various forms, each one with his own unique player hating agenda.  There is nothing we can about this infestation of ignoramuses.  Nothing, except mentally block out their foolishness and continue living our lives.  I must say, I pity the fools.

I mean I really sympathize with those poor, poor, gullible organisms.  It’s just too bad they never learned how to discern truth from hyped up propaganda.  It hurts me to my heart to know that some people still believe everything they see and hear in the media.  What a shame.  Somebody should inform those poor, confused, lost souls, that the truth rarely reveals itself on the local 11 o’clock news.  It just doesn’t happen.

I’m not saying that a group of extreme, delusional, idiots that run around blowing up stuff in the name of Allah don’t exist.  Unfortunately every religion harbors extremists.  What I do know,  is that Islam doesn’t propagate acts of terrorism.  I also know that I’m not going to lose a second of sleep agonizing over feeble-minded folks that assume all Muslims are pyscologically disturbed suicide bombers.  Those that insist on remaining hazed by the fog of media, so much so that they’re willing to alienate an entire religion, should return to grade school and learn how to deduce fact from fabrication.  As for my fellow brethren stop wasting your breath trying to explain how peaceful Islam is.  Use your da’wah to call to Tawheed (the monotheistic belief in God).  If the people don’t get it, that’s their loss.

As Salaamu Alaikum,

Umm Qamar
