Today you’re going to get a double dose of Ahadith. The topic is extremely important to all Muslims and I hope that you all find it beneficial.
Without further ado…
1. Malik recorded that Abu Hurayrah said that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said:
“When a Muslim or the believing servant performs Wudu’ and washes his face, every sin that he looked at with his eyes will depart from his face with the water, or with the last drop of water. When he washes his hands, every sin that his hands committed will depart from his hands with the water, or with the last drop of water. When he washes his feet , every sin to which his feet took him will depart with the water, or with the last drop of water. Until, he ends up sinless.
This has been recorded in Al-Muwatta 1:32 and also by Muslim 1:215
2. Muslim recorded that Abu Malik Al-Ash’ari said that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said:
“Purity is half of faith and Al-Hamdu Lillah (all thanks are due to Allah) fill the Mizan (scale). And Subhan Allah and Allahu Akbar (all praise is due to Allah, and Allah is the Most Great) fills what is between the heaven and the earth. As-Sawm (the fast) is a Junnah (shield), Sabr (patience) is a light, Sadaqah (charity) is evidence (of faith) and the Qur’an is proof for, or against you. Every person goes out in the morning and ends up selling himself, he either frees his soul or destroys it.
This has been recorded by Muslim 1:204
These Ahadtih where taken from Tafsir Ibn Kathir Vol.3
The statement cleanliness is next to Godliness does hold some wieght. We should take care to guard our Wudu the same way we guard our salah. It would be a shame to perform salah 5-17 times a day and none of them be excepted due to an invalid Wudu. In Sha Allah this little note served as a reminder to you all and myself.
As Salaamu Alaikum,
Let’s get right to it.
Narrated Anas (RA):
I will narrate to you a Hadith I heard from Allah’s Messenger (SAW) and none other than I will tell of it. I heard Allah’s Messenger (SAW) saying, “From the portents of the Hour are the following : Religious knowledge will be taken away; General ignorance (in religious matters) will increase; illegal sexual intercourse will prevail; Drinking of alcoholic drinks will be common; Men will decrease in number, and women will increase in number, so much so that fifty women will be looked after by one man.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol.7, Hadith No.158)
Do you not see some of these very signs rearing their ugly heads around you everyday? Do you think the Hour is near?
Insha Allah everyone who is able, is busy preparing themselves to attend Jumua. If you are reading this from a different time zone and have already attended the congregational prayer then Alhamdulilah. If not, here is a reminder to do so.
The Prophet (p.b.u.h) said, “Whoever takes a bath on Friday, purifies himself as much as he can, then uses his (hair) oil or perfumes himself with the scent of his house, then proceeds (for the Jumua prayer) and does not separate two persons sitting together (in the mosque), then prays as much as (Allah has) written for him and then remains silent while the Imam is delivering the Khutba, his sins in-between the present and the last Friday would be forgiven.”
May Allah guide us all, and insha Allah, resurrect us amongst the people of the right hand.
Narrated ‘Abdullah (RA) Allah’s Messenger (SAW) the truly inspired said:
“(As regards your creation), every one of you is collected in the womb of his mother for the first forty days, and then he becomes a clot for another forty days, and then a
piece of flesh for another forty days. Then Allah sends an angel to write four words: He writes his deeds, time of death, means of livelihood, and whether he will be wretched or blessed (in the Hereafter). Then the soul is breathed into his body. So a man may do deeds characteristic of the people of the (Hell) Fire, so much so that there is only the distance of a cubit between him and it, and then what has been written (by the angel) surpasses; and so he starts doing deeds characteristic of the people of Paradise and enters Paradise. Similarly, a person may do deeds characteristic of the people of Paradise, so much so that there is only the distance of a cubit between him and it, and then what has been written (by the angel) surpasses, and he starts doing deeds of the people of the (Hell) Fire and enters the (Hell) Fire.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol.4, Hadith No. 549)
As salaamu alaikum
I have to share with you all my favorite hadith. I read this Hadith Qudsi whenever I’m in need of a reminder of the mercy of Allah.
Hadith Qudsi 15: On the authority of Abu Harayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Prophet (PBUH) said: Allah the Almighty said:
I am as My servant thinks I am (1). I am with him when he makes mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assembly better than it. And if he draws near to Me an arm’s length, I draw near to him a fathom’s length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed.
(1) Another possible rendering of the Arabic is: “I am as My servant expects Me to be”. The meaning is that forgiveness and acceptance of repentance by the Almighty is subject to His servant truly believing that He is forgiving and merciful. However, not to accompany such belief with right action would be to mock the Almighty.
It was related by al-Buhkari (also by Muslim, at-Tirmidhi and Ibn-Majah).
Alhamdulilah. By the mercy and grace of Allah there is no affliction that can affect us, but that it cannot be solved with supplication. I don’t know about you, but that makes me feel a heck of a lot better about navigating through this jungle of a dunya we live in.
The Prophet(SAW) said: “Allah will say to the person of the hellfire who will receive the least punishment, “If you had everything on the earth would you give it as ransom to free yourself (i.e. save yourself from this fire)? He will say ‘Yes.’ Then Allah will say, “While you were in the backbone of Adam, I asked you much less than this, (i.e. not to worship others besides Me), but you insisted on worshipping others besides me.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol. 4, Hadith No. 551)
